Rosedale Harvard Gulch Neighborhood Association
Start-up Committee Meeting
Thursday, November 5, 2009
A meeting of the RHGNA Start-up Committee was held on Thursday, November 5, 2009,
at 6:30 pm at the CSU Cooperative Extension offices. In attendance were: Co-Chair Kim Ritter, Secretary Cathy Darnell, Treasurer Elissa Augello, Carri Currier, Kristin Salada, Derek Allan, Rick Mendelson, Scott Prince, Bill Bloch and Doug Haughey. Kim led the meeting.
MINUTES
The minutes of the meeting of October 7, 2009 were approved.
BYLAWS
Subcommittee chair Cathy Darnell stated that except for some fine-tuning, the subcommittee feels that a draft of the bylaws is ready to present to the general membership. She thanked the members of the group – Ellen Winiarczyk, Kim Ritter, Derek Allan, Carri Currier, and Jim Egan - for their hard work. Cathy then reviewed the highlights of each Article and answered questions. She will prepare a PowerPoint presentation for the general membership meeting on the 18th. A proposed draft will be posted on the RHGNA website with contacts for questions/issues following the meeting. The final vote will be held at the general meeting in January. Since the Bylaws will go into effect immediately, elections will take place after that.
ZONING
Rick Mendelson reported that Draft #3 of the Zoning Code Update and Map are now available on the newcodedenver.org website. Copies of the map were handed out. He also commented on the scheduled listening sessions by CPD. He will attend on 11/19.
We have also received a request to comment on renewal of a use permit for a property on S. Broadway. Rick will investigate and report back.
ZONING MATTER
Rick summarized a letter received from a group of neighbors on a zoning matter within the neighborhood. He reported on the preliminary response letter sent from RHGNA and his contacts with Michelle Pyle of the CPD office. The group discussed the situation and decided on the next steps: for Rick to get additional information from CPD and to report to the neighbors in more detail as to what we have done and the answers we have been given to their questions. Then we will encourage them to use the avenues open to them and the established procedures to pursue the matter with CPD and Councilman Nevitt’s office.
CSU COOPERATIVE EXTENSION
Bill Bloch has agreed to serve as RHGNA’s representative to the CSU Cooperative Extension’s Advisory Board. He will meet with Barbara Martin-Worley for details.
NOVEMBER 18th GENERAL MEETING
Both of the co-chairs, Kim and Ellen, are unable to be at the Nov. 18th meeting. Kristin Salada has volunteered to facilitate the meeting and Rick will assist her. Kim and Kristin will do the agenda planning. Elissa will work with Kristin on the flyers. Eric will be contacted to do the sandwich board signs. It was suggested to post the notice at Harvard Rec Center, Campus Cycles and The Patch Garden Center.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE
Derek Allan, Rick Mendelson and Cathy Darnell volunteered to work on nominations for the election of officers and board members to be held at the January meeting. An announcement will be made at the November 18th meeting.
BLOCK CAPTAINS
Kristin Salada reported that we need about 10 more block captains. She met with Paul Kosemple and after some analysis and discussion, decided to RE-DEFINE a “block” to mean both sides of one street. For most block captains, this means they are still responsible for the block they live on. She will have a new map and schedule organized for distribution of the flyers for the 18th.
The meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.
Cathy Darnell, Secretary
