Mid-Autumn Festival and Picnic
The Denver-Kunming China Committee of Denver Sister Cities (non-profit) will be holding a Mid-Autumn Festival and Picnic on Saturday, September 30 in Kunming Park from 11AM to 2PM.
Why Celebrate: The Mid-Autumn Festival was traditionally a time to thank the gods at the end of the autumn harvest. The moon is at its brightest then, so lunar legends have been attached to the celebration. Familes eat mooncakes together or give them to relatives and friends to express love and best wishes. Their round shape and sweet flavor symbolize completeness and sweetness.
Back By Popular Request: Free Tai Chi Qigong demonstration and class with Alice Moy.
What We Will Supply: The Denver-Kunming Committee will provide a main dish, utensils, plates, cups, water, soft drinks and, of course, mooncakes!
What You Need to Do:
Bring a favorite side dish to share and any special beverages you may want
Bring a lawn chair or blanket
Bring friends!!
Please RSVP to kunming@denversistercities.org so we know how much food to buy or to contact us with any questions.
